To A Keeper

Another one from my Sis. Keep those mails coming Sis.

To A Keeper,

One day someone's husband died, and on that clear, cold morning, in The warmth of their bedroom, the wife was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't any more. No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat, no more "just one minute." Sometimes, what we care about the most gets all used up and goes away never to return before we can say good-bye, say "I love you.."

So while we have it . . . it's best we love it . . and care for it . and fix it when it's broken . ... . and heal it when it's sick. This is true for marriage and old cars . . and children with bad report cards and dogs with bad hips and aging parents and grandparents . We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it.

Some things we keep -- like a best friend who moved away or a classmate we grew up with. There are just some things that make us happy, no matter what.
Life is important, like people we know who are special . . and so, We keep them close!

I received this from someone who thought I was a 'keeper'! Then I sent It to the people I think of in the same way. Now it's your turn to send this to all those people who are "keepers" in your life.

Bush In Jail, A Pet Dream

Ladies and Gentlemen, meet our newest contributor at The Democratic Daily. Bob Higgins of Worldwide Sawdust, is an awesome addition to the family at The Dem Daily. I would be so lucky to find such a good addition to this blog. Although I have my eye on some. Hint, Hint Schroeder and the rest of you La. bloggers!! Welcome to the family Bob.

Bush In Jail, A Pet Dream

The Presidency or Regency of George Bush the Lesser is nothing more or less than a vast carefully crafted criminal enterprise.

The Bush Administration and it’s extended crime family has taken organized crime from the mean streets and ethnic social clubs of urban America and transferred it high above those meager environs into the steel and glass, leather and mahogany world of the American Corporate boardroom.

The scale of the criminality of the members of this nefarious organization would make the most experienced and successful Mafiosi or Asian or Russian gangster weep with wildly envious frustration.

No criminal organization in history has had the raw and overwhelming economic power, the political clout, the global reach, the enormous public relations network, the military might, the cooperation of law enforcement and the assortment of like minded corrupt compatriots in the church, the press and nearly every institution of society.

This is the “Military Industrial Complex” that Dwight Eisenhower warned against nearly half a century ago, but in that ensuing span of time it has grown into something that I doubt even Ike could have anticipated. It’s a “Military Industrial Complex” on steroids.

The 2006 Rising Tide New Orleans convention

Announcing The 2006 Rising Tide Convention. DangerBlond has done some really impressive work to make this happen. So stop by and tell her hi. And believe it or not, The Katrinacrat is scheduled to be off work on those days!! Might have to get some shirts made for it.

The 2006 Rising Tide New Orleans convention
All about rebuilding New Orleans

August 25-27, 2006, there will be a convention for all people who care about New Orleans.

The Rising Tide Conference will be a gathering for all who wish to learn more and do more to assist New Orleans' recovery from the aftermath of the natural disasters of both Hurricane Katrina and Rita, the manmade disaster of the levee and floodwall collapses, and the incompetence of government on all levels. We will come together to dispel myths, promote facts, share personal testimonies, highlight progress and regress, discuss recovery ideas, and promote sound policies at all levels. We aim to be a "real life" demonstration of internet activism as the nation prepares to mark the one year anniversary of a massive natural disaster followed by governmental failures on a similar scale

Crooked Accounting for Iraq

Ron at The Democratic Daily writes about these accounting errors.

Bush Administration Hid Costs in Iraq

Republicans cannot be trusted with either defending America or handling our money. The New York Times finds signs of creative accounting:

The State Department agency in charge of $1.4 billion in reconstruction money in Iraq used an accounting shell game to hide ballooning cost overruns on its projects there and knowingly withheld information on schedule delays from Congress, a federal audit released late Friday has found.

The agency hid construction overruns by listing them as overhead or administrative costs, according to the audit, written by the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, an independent office that reports to Congress, the Pentagon and the State Department.

Katrina Deaths: 49 still unidentified

Almost a year after the storm, and there are still bodies that are not identified. A cold reminder, of how much damage was done to life, property, and the psych of everyone along the Gulf Coast. Images will be forever etched into our minds.

Mystery: 49 of Lousiana's hurricane dead lie unidentified

They lie in silvery airtight caskets in a rented warehouse near the Superdome or in black body bags stacked in a refrigerated truck behind an abandoned funeral-home-turned-morgue.

Nearly a year after Hurricane Katrina, 49 of the storm's 1,300-plus victims in Louisiana are stuck in a kind of purgatory, with no final resting place, because their identities are still a mystery.

The anonymous souls died undignified deaths, their bodies left in muddy water for days or buried in rubble for months. Many died in the flood-leveled Ninth Ward.

Not much else is known about them. Many had no clothing or ID, and their bodies were bloated from exposure or reduced to skeletons before medical examiners could begin looking for clues.

The nameless dead wait for medical records, dental charts or DNA analysis — anything that might tell the world who they are.

"We're not going to give up," said Dr. Louis Cataldie, Louisiana medical examiner. Cataldie said authorities will keep trying until they have exhausted all possibilities; New Orleans Coroner Dr. Frank Minyard has set no deadline on the task.

Altogether, local, state and federal officials identified more than 1,300 people found dead in Louisiana after Katrina struck on Aug. 29. (The official Louisiana death toll is close to 1,600, but the number includes nearly 300 who died outside the state shortly after fleeing the storm.)

The nameless dead include 24 victims whose bodies were found in sweeps done by New Orleans firefighters and cadaver dogs from March through June. Minyard said those remains, now housed in a trailer behind a funeral home converted to the city morgue, were reduced to skeletons by the time they were discovered.

The 25 others were among the 206 turned over to local authorities in April by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Those bodies are in a warehouse along a freeway.

Mississippi Congressman fires back at Michael Brown

Some people just don't know when to STFU. Michael Brown seems to be one of those kinda people. Rep. Gene Taylor, D-Mississippi, fired back at Brown after an interview with Playboy in which Brown called Taylor "that little twerp" because of his harsh questioning during a house hearing on the government's response to Katrina.

Mississippi congressman, former FEMA director trade barbs

"Brown is an incompetent fool, and everyone in South Mississippi knows it," said Rep. Gene Taylor, D-Miss.

In a Playboy magazine interview, the fallen Federal Emergency Management Agency chief took issue with Taylor for harshly questioning him during a hearing into the government's sluggish response to Hurricane Katrina last year.

"He said I didn't recognize the death and suffering that was going on," Brown said of Taylor.

"For that little twerp to claim I didn't recognize death and suffering — he can just bite me, for all I care," Brown told Playboy.

Taylor, one of the few Democrats to sit on the Republican-dominated House inquiry, returned fire Thursday.

"Brown should consider himself a lucky man," he said in a statement. "Had I known before the hearing that he was up in Baton Rouge ordering steaks on his government credit card at the same time the people of South Mississippi were resorting to police-sanctioned looting to feed themselves, I would have done more than just verbally kick his butt."

Quote of the day

So I got through having my Grandmother buried, and I did not even lose my mind during the whole ordeal. The rain was a nice touch. Nothing like having members of the family come from other states, and let the sky give them a welcome that I don't think they will soon forget. That is why I have been away for a few days. Well, that and work. So in honor of my Grandmother, and her good heart, I give this quote of the day.

"We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature." Abraham Lincoln

You will be missed Grandma, and we will carry on your hope for a better life. We may stumble, but we shall not fall. Till we meet again, I will long to hear your voice once more.

American Family Association: The Katrinacrat is calling you out-Part 1

I tried to be nice, really I did. Now The Katrinacrat has to get into his combat mode. So Cathy, You just had to go there huh? Well enjoy the ride I'm gonna take you on. Time to take another ride on the Katrinacrat Express. First stop, Reality!! So buckle up boys and girls, Time to unlock the breaks and get this train at full speed. So Cathy, my dear sweet Ex-Wife, You better break out your prayer cloths and any other Benny Hinn type items you have on hand, because I'm about to expose you and your idols for the world to see. You wanted it, You got it!! In case you missed the memo, Donnie is back to being the Marine he was before he met you. You will learn to go with the old saying that the old people use down here in bayou county: "Don't Play With The Dog If You Don't Wanna Get Bit".

First let me give some background here. As some are aware, I was a Marine and a Republican before I became The Katrinacrat. What you don't know, is that I was in church while married to the lovely Sender of this putrid mail you will read soon. I was once compelled to become a preacher, and saw how the churches that I went to became what I could never be a part of. I saw things that I really hoped to never see from people that were supposed to be Christians. Preachers having affairs with church members and divorcing to be with the other.

Pastors reprimanding their wives for calling an ambulance for an elderly lady hurt during a revival, because it was a shame to have an ambulance in front of a "Church of GOD" during a revival, when they could show the power of GOD. I watched as the pastor demeaned his own wife before the church, because their praying had to stop for the paramedics to help that old lady out.

I listened to Rev. Ron Hidalgo of the Assemblies of God in Kentwood, Louisiana tell me I could never be a pastor of one of their churches because I had married a divorced woman. So according to them, GOD forgives, But not them. Then this is from the same Pastor that had the affair!! And insisted on us having pre-marriage counciling before he would marry us!!

Now that I am not with that cheating and unfeeling Wench that went behind my back, while I raised her two youngest daughters as my own, she wants to be holy again, and wants to preach and tell people about their lives. She now cares about people's souls, and expects to be heard and be listened to. Well Cathy, listen to what Donnie has to say for once. Come close so you can hear it. THE KATRINACRAT SAYS THAT YOU CAN GO FUCK YOURSELF!!!!! You and Bush, Cheney, Rove, DeLay, Pat Robertson, James Dobson, Franklin Graham, Benny Hinn and the rest can politely GO TO HELL!! You can't save your souls when you don't have one. Bunch of wolves in sheeps clothing. And lets not forget Peanut, the piece of shit you fooled around with, that you ended up getting married to, that you talk bad about. TAKE YOUR MEDICINE BITCH!! You have it coming to you.

Killing 1000's of people in the name of GOD, and claiming to be a Christian. If that is what being a part of a church is, then you can have it. Idolators, the whole lot of you. So if you want to get a feel for who the American Family Association, is, check them out till Part two.

Sorry about the extreme words on this post, but this Marine is mad, and ready to get a point across. I will not take kindly to anyone demeaning people like my sis. I have warned and this is what they will get.

PS I almost forgot to add Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman
American Family Association to the list of those that can go Cheney themselves.

Bush: A Dork in Dork's Shoes

Who in the hell would want to wear these, but our Lunatic-In-Chief? Just when you thought you had seen every possible stupid pose from this jackass, here he goes again!! Was he practicing for the sneak attack? Hmmmm.

President Bush wears his custom-made red, white and blue wing-tip shoes as talks to reporters during his visit to the Allen-Edmonds shoe factory, Tuesday, July 11, 2006, in Port Washington, Wis. Anyone looking to sport the same red-white-and-blue kicks President Bush received from the Wisconsin shoe company last week is out of luck. Allen-Edmonds Shoe Corp. says it won't duplicate the patriotic wingtips it gave the president when he visited its Port Washington factory July 11. (AP Photo/Pablo Martinez Monsivais)

Anyone looking to sport the same red-white-and-blue shoes President Bush received from a Wisconsin company last week is out of luck.

Allen-Edmonds Shoe Corp. says it won't duplicate the patriotic wingtips it gave Bush when he visited its Port Washington factory July 11.

"We think that would take away from the gift that we gave to President Bush," said Mark Birmingham, chief operating officer of Allen-Edmonds. "As it said in the insole, they were made exclusively for President Bush, and we want to honor that."

Another Military email story

OK folks, get your self ready to dry your eyes after this one. And I am not kidding about this. Live from The Katrinacrat's mailbox, comes another mail from my Sis and her partner. That's right, more patriotic gay mail. SO don't cry on your screen, I have warned you. And to think that those thugs wanna take people like this and throw them away. I am amazed that I don't have a box full of support for the troops from the old republican friends, but I have my gay sister and her partner(AKA Lil Sis) sending patriotic mail, and caring about our troops. So to relieve you of trying to figure out which one I talk about, I will refer to my sister as "Sis" and her wonderful friend as "Lil Sis" and I hope that will get around any confusion. They are both beautiful in my heart, and are so thoughtful. So I think it was Lil Sis that sent me the original mail. Well the pics were not working, and Sis hopped up and got on the job. WOOHOO!! Sis took care of business!! So get your Kleenex ready boys and girls, The Katrinacrat is gonna take you on another ride on the reality train.

The Mail:

If you read this, you WILL forward it on. You won't be able to stop yourself.

The Military
The average age of the military man is 19 years. He is a short haired, tight-muscled kid who, under normal circumstances is considered by society as half man, half boy. Not yet dry behind the ears, not old enough to buy a beer, but old enough to die for his country. He never really cared much for work and he would rather wax his own car than wash his father's; but he has never collected unemployment either.

He's a recent High School graduate; he was probably an average student, pursued some form of sport activities, drives a ten year old jalopy, and has a steady girlfriend that either broke up with him when he left, or swears to be waiting when he returns from half a world away.

He listens to rock and roll or hip-hop or rap or jazz or swing and 155mm howitzer.

He is 10 or 15 pounds lighter now than when he was at home because he is working or fighting from before dawn to well after dusk.

He has trouble spelling, thus letter writing is a pain for him, but he can field strip a rifle in 30 seconds and reassemble it in less time in the dark.
He can recite to you the nomenclature of a machine gun or grenade launcher and use either one effectively if he must.

He digs foxholes and latrines and can apply first aid like a professional.

He can march until he is told to stop or stop until he is told to march.

He obeys orders instantly and without hesitation, but he is not without spirit or individual dignity. He is self-sufficient.
He has two sets of fatigues: he washes one and wears the other.
He keeps his canteens full and his feet dry. He sometimes forgets to brush his teeth, but never to clean his rifle.

He can cook his own meals, mend his own clothes, and fix his own hurts.

If you're thirsty, he'll share his water with you; if you are hungry, his food.

He'll even split his ammunition with you in the midst of battle when you run low.

He has learned to use his hands like weapons and weapons like they were his hands.

He can save your life - or take it, because that is his job.

He will often do twice the work of a civilian, draw half the pay and still find ironic humor in it all.

He has seen more suffering and death then he should have in his short lifetime.

He has stood atop mountains of dead bodies, and helped to create them.

He has wept in public and in private, for friends who have fallen in combat and is unashamed.
He feels every note of the National Anthem vibrate through his body while at rigid attention, while tempering the burning desire to 'square-away' those around him who haven't bothered to stand, remove their hat, or even stop talking.

In an odd twist, day in and day out, far from home, he defends their right to be disrespectful.

Just as did his Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, he is paying the price for our freedom. Beardless or not, he is not a boy.

He is the American Fighting Man that has kept this country free
for over 200 years.

He has asked nothing in return, except our friendship and understanding.

Remember him, always, for he has earned our respect and admiration with his blood.

And now we even have women over there in danger, doing their part in this tradition of going to War when our nation calls us to do so.

As you go to bed tonight, remember this shot..

A short lull, a little shade and a picture of loved ones in their helmets

Prayer wheel for our military... please don't break it.

Please send this on after a short prayer.

Prayer Wheel
"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen."

When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our ground troops in Afghanistan, sailor s on ships, and airmen in the air, and for those in Iraq.

There is nothing attached....
This can be very powerful....

Of all the gifts you could give a US Soldier, Sailor, Coastguardsman, Marine or Airman, prayer is the very best one.

I can't break this one, sorry
This is a ribbon for soldiers fighting in Iraq. Pass it on to everyone and pray.,

That is our military, and I will not stand by and let those chicken hawks get away with abusing them. If my gay Sis and Lil Sis can show better understanding about what being a patriot is, than those so called holders of the homeland security, then we must let them be heard, and let them be the patriots that they are. Let them live the lives that we members of the military past and present, have given our lives and time to make sure of. We are one people, and it is time to act as such. The Katrinacrat welcomes and adores the gay community for their patriotism. They are not lesser people, and I will not take kindly to anyone that says otherwise.

New Orleans blogger round up

Schroeder at People Get Ready, covers the rebuilding in Broadmoor. Great write up, and an insight into what those outside our state don't see.

People are doin' it for themselves

Where was The Times-Picayune? The Associated Press was there. So was ABC 26 and Adam Nossiter of the New York Times. I hope I'm mistaken, but I didn't see any other reporters there.

Among 73 official New Orleans neighborhoods, Broadmoor is now the only one with their own plan to rebuild. Lakeview paid for a rebuilding plan to be drafted, but Broadmoor hit the pavement and assembled what will be -- no joke -- the model for urban planners for decades to come. The incredible irony, and the cause for celebration, is that Broadmoor was one of the neighborhoods that Mayor Nagin's Bring New Orleans Back Commission put a big green dot on top of.

BayouStJohnDavid at Moldy City speaks out about Mayor Nagin and what seems to be a lil cronyism.

Gambit Had a Great Editorial

Sixteen months ago:

Then, a few months ago, things started changing. Our mayor started acting just like all the others before him -- in all the wrong ways. It wouldn't have been so bad if he had started making intelligent political decisions. Instead, he's just as dumb (politically) as he ever was, but now he's doling out favors like an old-time ward heeler.

It started, oddly enough, with garbage cans. I should have suspected something was amiss right then and there because the official excuse for buying pricey garbage cans from a company with connections to the mayor's right-hand guy was that these garbage cans would be bomb proof. Bomb proof!?? Who in the hell wants to blow up a garbage can in a city as hot and humid -- or as thoroughly littered already -- as New Orleans? But that was just the beginning.

The mayor followed that by awarding several other contracts to firms that were not the low bidders -- and that also happened to be owned by folks with political connections

Ed Deevy at The Katrina Memo understands how goofy Bush's behavior was this past weekend.

Our President at work...

This past weekend Bush was hamming it up on his bike in Russia while hell was breaking loose in the Middle East. And, as he munched down some food, he was overheard cursing the Syrians in a chat with Blair.

Some are saying that the President's goofy behavior may have something to do with the stress of the job. He must be aware that American prestige is at an all-time low. I have the impression that he's become disengaged from what's going on around the world. There seems to be a sense of helplessness coming over the Presidency.

So check out those New Orleans bloggers, and let them know you care. Drop them a line and let them see that people still care. We cannot let last year fade away like it never happened. People down here are fighting to survive, and we shall not go down like that. You can also find a lot of links on those blogs.

Stacey Tallitsch on rebuilding America

Here is some more from Stacey Tallitsch, who is running against Bobby Jindal, the GOP poster child for Louisiana. As with the last post, Stacey speaks Truth to Power.

Hey Jindal, The Katrinacrat's got your number you Chicken Hawk!! And after Stacey gives you the proper send off, The Katrinacrat will still be there when you have the gall to make another run at the Governor's Mansion

Rebuilding America

Our nation’s infrastructure is crumbling. Our roads, bridges, highways, sewer lines and train lines are decomposing.

In the GOP Leaderships concerted effort to destroy the trade unions, they have attempted to starve them into extinction. As a result, these craftsman and tradesman have been shutout of the normal maintenance of what keeps our cities functional and safe.

The schools we place our children are dilapidated, our streets filled with pot-holes and the cost is being passed on to us through auto repairs.

Republicans have brought gross negligence to a fine art. Unfortunately, that same negligence was directly responsible for loss of over 5,000 American lives when the levees were breached in New Orleans. It is that same negligence that has committed to rebuild the levee system to exactly the way it was prior to Katrina.

Republicans really don’t seem to like Americans all that much.

Through the blatant and shameless partisanship of the GOP leadership, America’s infrastructure is in dire straights. There has been a refusal to do what is necessary to protect us, what is necessary to keep America functional, and what is necessary to assure the future of the greatest country in the world.

America is too young to already be in decline.

While the GOP is focused on rebuilding Iraq, giving them free health care and building their schools with American tax dollars, it is Americans that are denied those same services.

Pettiness and cruelty toward anyone who doesn’t make $7 million a year or more, and Dick Cheney said as much when he said, “Go F**k yourself.” It’s no coincidence that Cheney’s Halliburton has had record profits exceeding 318% every year since 2001.

It’s time we take The Administration's Leadership in Congress at their word as evidenced by their actions. They don’t like poor Americans, they don’t care about honor in the traditional sense and they don’t care about poor children.

It is also important to note that Jindal received a Presidential appointment as Assistant Secretary of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Making him a senior health policy advisor to President George W. Bush, which sure did wonders for his position he has now. So make no mistake about it, Jindal is a puppet for Busco. Right down to the "OMG, they wanna burn the flag rhetoric" and "Stay the Course BS" and the "My Religious Freedoms are being Attacked."

Amazing, they are so worried about burning flags, and yet rape the meaning of the flag!!

They yell "Stay the Course" and "Cut and Run" but none of them know a damn thing about being a soldier. Much less one that has to die for an illegal war, while their own offspring avoid the same fate.

They cry about their religious freedoms, when pushing their views on others, is the real freedom they seek. Zealots and Hypocrites that invade and kill in the name of GOD.

Stacey Tallitsch on the war in Iraq

Stacey Tallitsch is one of those Democrats that I have links to on this page. This is an example of why I like Stacey, and he has a link here with The Katrinacrat. Give Stacey your support, and help him put Jindal out on his ass this November. This is Stacey's take on the war in Iraq.

War in Iraq

There is just no other way to put this; it is plainly self-evident and clear. The War in Iraq is a complete failure. George W. Bush’s dream has wrought nothing but death and destruction to both the United States and Iraq.

Iraq is making terrorism worse. It's a breeding ground. We're sowing seeds to a bitter fruit we never wanted and certainly don't need. We need to leave as soon as possible without creating a regional war. We are not helping the Iraqis by staying. They are building their imperfect institutions and they must live with the result.

We were lied to as the reason to go to war. We were lied to as the purpose of the war. We were lied to as the dangers of going to war. We were lied to as to the cost in both blood and money. And we were lied to as to why we’re still in the war. It is a war of lies, for lies, and will never be considered a noble effort.

I cringe every time George W. Bush says he’s a “Wartime President” because it shames every other President in wartime throughout our history. George W. Bush is a President that exaggerated and lied about the reasons to put troops into combat. His only real claim to fame is that, other than a minority interest in a Major League Baseball Team, every business he's ever owned has failed. Failing is the only thing he has ever excelled at in his life.

The chicken-hawks of the GOP are willing to sacrifice somebody else's life. You can find them in churches, schools, newspapers, legislatures and congress. Despite their flawed logic and intel, they sound wonderful. “Death before dishonor.” “This ground sanctified by blood.” “These men who died so gloriously.” “They shall not have died in vain.” “Our noble dead.” These are the battle cries of cowards, of men and women who send others to die while their own offspring stay home to profitably work at their professions, and it has a distinctive stench.

We need to get out of Iraq as soon as possible. We need to take quick action to hold those responsible for the greatest error ever perpetrated on America.

George W. Bush has been measured and found to be inadequate. He has failed, but to his credit, he has failed more spectacularly than any military non-genius in our history.

The failure of The War in Iraq was never the fault of our troops. They did everything they were supposed to with excellence.

It is totally the failure of George W. Bush and the GOP. They presumed to know something they did not and failed to heed the warnings of those who did. They were convinced they were touched by divinity and were feckless in the face of truth. It was pure megalomania that brought us to where we are today.

These malfunctions are too dangerous in today’s world. They must answer to us for what they’ve done, and for that reason they are scared.

We must win the elections of 2006 to start the most deeply needed series of investigations ever held in America. They will make Watergate look like a parking ticket. Join me in the fight to hold these people responsible for their actions.

It is the Veteran

I got an email from my sis and her partner. It kinda got to me, and I thought I might share it. As a Former Marine, I cannot begin to say how much I am repulsed by the direction that our county is going. I took an oath to defend the Constitution, and I cannot for the life of me, understand how some would take it and twist our nation into something it is not meant to be. Insanity knows no bounds with this Admin. and they wish to ignore the basic foundation of our nation. Taking our nation into unknown territory, and invading a nation that has not provoked us, has led us into a hell on earth. Rev. Bush wishes to make us believe that he hears the word of GOD, and that he is the salvation of us all. Well Mr. Bush, I think you have it all wrong!! I will show you what makes this a great nation. This is what has made our country great, and not you. We were around a long time before you came and soiled and raped our Constitution that so many have died for.

The Email:

Keep it moving, please, even if you've seen it before.

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN, who salutes the Flag,

It is the veteran, who serves under the Flag,

I don't know if you saw this in the news but it really impressed me. Funny, our US Senate/House took 2 days off as they couldn't work because of the expected storm.
On the ABC evening news, it was reported that, because of the dangers from Hurricane Isabelle approaching Washington DC, the military members assigned the duty of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were given permission to suspend the assignment.
They respectfully declined the offer, "No way, Sir!"
Soaked to the skin, marching in the pelting rain of a tropical storm, they said that guarding the Tomb was not just an assignment; it was the highest honor that can be afforded to a service person.
The tomb has been patrolled continuously, 24/7, since 1930.
I don't usually suggest that many emails be forwarded, but I'd be EXTREMELY proud if this one reached as many as possible. We can be very proud of our young men and women in the service no matter where they serve.

God Bless the them all!!!

I call on my fellow Marines and Veterans to speak out and reclaim our nation we once knew and loved Look into your hearts, and see if this is what you took an oath for. Our nation needs us more now, than ever. I am not only posting for peace, I am posting for my country and its survival as a free nation.

Woman calls 911 for date with "Cutie Pie" Deputy

A 45 year old woman let her hormones get the best of her, and used 911 to get her "Cutie Pie" Deputy to return. A court date is not exactly the kinda of date she wanted with that special Deputy, but that is what she got.

A woman who called 911 to get "the cutest cop I've seen" sent back to her home got a date all right — a court date.

The same sheriff's deputy arrested her on charges of misuse of the emergency dispatch system.

Washington County Sheriff's Sgt. David Thompson told KGW-TV of Portland it all started with a noise complaint called in last month by neighbors of Lorna Jeanne Dudash. The deputy sent to check on the complaint knocked on her door, then left.

Thompson said Dudash then called 911, asking that the "cutie pie" deputy return.

"He's the cutest cop I've seen in a long time. I just want to know his name," Dudash told the dispatcher. "Heck, it doesn't come very often a good man comes to your doorstep."

Cuculoupe: Houma couple gets national spotlight

Cuculoupe? Ok what is the catch? Well there is no catch, but the fact that it is a freak of nature. The Cuculoupe is a crossbred fruit, that just sort of happened.

Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa taste the cuculoupe on their show today. A local couple grew the fruit and shipped it to them.

After their 'cuculoupe’s’ appearance on "Live With Regis and Kelly" this morning, Tim and Karen Dusenbery won’t be surprised at the attention their strange fruit receives next.

Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa spent about five minutes talking about the Houma couple’s cantaloupe-cucumber crossbreed on the show, even sampling some of the fruit.

"It’s very good," said Kelly as she tasted her first bite. "Tim, you are on to something."

Tim, who was on the phone with Regis and Kelly, explained that the strange specimen is a result of "very fertile soil" outside his La. 311 home.

Regis and Kelly both got to try one. Kelly had the right idea, Bust out the vodka! I knew there was something I liked about her.

Regis dipped his piece in ranch and Kelly suggested it would go well with vodka. She even said he should have named the fruit a Dusenbery instead of a cuculoupe.

But Regis and Kelly are not the only ones that are interested in this strange fruit.

News of the cuculoupe has appeared in dozens of publications across the country and even had some international exposure. It seems that America is very interested in the 3-foot-long cylindrical fruit.

Tim says they have received phone calls from publications across the country, all seeking more details. A producer from "Good Morning America" also called him, though he hasn’t yet heard it mentioned on the show.

On Thursday morning, the couple will be on 106.7, a New Orleans radio station, talking about the cuculoupe and hopefully even getting a chance to play their song, Tim said.

"I am just amazed, at how things happen," he said.

The Dusenberys produced the fruit by accident. The large fruit grew on a vine between the cucumbers and the cantaloupes growing in their backyard garden.

Fun and Games with Google

So I know some of this is already known to most, but I want to see how many items of interest you can come up with. Back some time ago, it got out that if you go to Google's main page, and type in failure then hit the I'm feeling lucky button, you will go to a link with the alltime biggest failure. So I will give some examples of other items, and see how many you can come up with. You can also just do the google search, and they will be the first links to come up.

George W. Bush-Biography

Tony Blair-Biography

A film with all the assholes! A must see and funny too.

So there are some examples. Have fun boys and girls. Be sure to note the results of your quest back here.

Police Dogs should not be allowed to drive

Just when you think the headlines cannot get any crazier, POOF they prove you wrong!! Mary F. Stone, 41, of Utah was minding her own business and going to check her mail. It was at that time, that Ranger, a German Shepard police dog, jumped into action and chased her down in a police truck that was left running by the dog's handler. While Ranger's handler was taking care of the domestic disturbance call that brought them there to start with, Ranger bolted into action and ran that mail checking monster down.

A police dog that was left in a pickup with the engine running apparently knocked the vehicle into gear and ran down a woman who was walking to her mailbox.

Mary F. Stone, 41, was expected to remain hospitalized with a fractured pelvis and tailbone until at least Friday, said her husband, Paul Stone.

The dog, a German shepherd named Ranger, had been left in the truck while its handler responded to a domestic disturbance call Tuesday, police Lt. Loring Draper said. The truck's engine was on so Ranger would have air conditioning.

Try as they may, police could not stop Ranger from getting his/her woman.

Draper said Ranger must have hit the shift on the steering column, putting the automatic transmission into gear. As the truck slowly rolled forward, police officers yelled to Stone, but she couldn't get out of the way in time, he said.

A front and rear tire ran over her. "She had tire marks on her clothes," her husband said.

But wait!! Can Ranger be a victim of those cursed auto makers?

Draper said police were trying to determine if there might have been some malfunction that would have allowed the gear shift to be moved easily.

Gutbuster of the Month

You have no idea how crazy and mixed up those fundies can be, till you look at what Dizzy Dezzi dug up. And you can believe the warning about putting down your coffee and wearing your depends when you hit the links!! Some dolt goes off, and makes posts on his sight, due to an artical on "The Onion", of all places. This pro-life fool becomes the life of the party, and the laughs begin. Just follow the links, and get your laugh on.

Here is a taste of what you will see at Dizzy Dezzi's:

Murder without conscience
Here are some quotes from a pro-abortion person, Miss Caroline Weber, who wrote an article at The Onion online magazine.

The Onion Article

When referring to the killing of her child she said:

"I am totally psyched for this abortion!"

"Those pro-life activists made it pretty clear that, unlike me, they actually think abortion is bad and to be avoided. Are they nuts? Abortion is the best!"

"It wasn't until now that I was lucky enough to be pregnant with a child I had no means to support."

"I just know it's going to be the best non-anesthetized invasive uterine surgery ever!"

Who does Miss Weber blame her abortion on? The pro-life movement.

"The funny thing is, I actually have the pro-life movement to thank for this opportunity."

It's our fault? She says:

"If my HMO wouldn't have bowed to their pressure not to cover oral contraceptives, I never would've gotten pregnant in the first place."

Made some changes

Some might have noticed that I did manage to do some changes to the sight. I finally got the links on the sidebar started. Doing as much as I can with the lil time on hand. Just two more nights left, before I go on days off. That's when I will be able to get some real work done. So if you don't see your link here yet, give me a lil more time, and I hope to have the rest up soon. So I will leave you with a pic that was taken on my final voyage home, as I was giving up work out in the Gulf of Mexico last year. A proper sight for my last voyage on the water.

It looked like the Gulf was giving me a send off that evening.

Protest at NSA Headquarters: 13 cited or violated?

Thirteen anit-war activist were cited Saturday, while protesting the NSA(You know, those protectors that listen in on your phone calls) at the headquarters, Fort Meade, of the agency violating your civil rights for George W. Bush. Those 13 of 25 that protested, refused to stop carrying signs. The NSA has violated the rights of America, so what is 13 more mere cases to add to the list. Why 13 activist and the violations of their civil rights, is to the NSA, like writing up Jeffery Dahmer for jay walking.

Thirteen anti-war activists were given citations Saturday for protesting outside the National Security Agency headquarters at Fort Meade.

An NSA security officer cited the activists for ``entering into military facility for purposes prohibited by law'' and ordered them to leave the area, protest organizers and an NSA spokesman said.

They were ordered to appear in U.S. District Court in Baltimore to be arraigned at a date to be announced.

Twenty-five people participated in the protest, but only 13 who refused to stop carrying signs were cited, said Max Obuszewski of the Pledge of Resistance - Baltimore, one of those cited. They carried a banner reading ``NSA = Crime Scene'' and other signs protesting the agency's involvement in the war in Iraq.

The activists were stopped on a road near the NSA entrance that provides access to two museums that are open to the public, Obuszewski said.

``We were on, I would argue, public property,'' he said. ``Anybody could go there and get gasoline; anybody could go there and visit the two museums.''

Notice these words: "An NSA security officer cited the activists" and where they where according to Max Obuszewski.

Stay the course and turn out the lights

Well if you are going to screw something up, might as well go the distance. Army post nationwide, are feeling the budget crunch, due to diversion of dollars to help fight the war in Iraq. A shortfall, to the tune of $530 Million at that. Causing the inability to pay utility bills, buy office equipment, keeping all dining halls open, buying chlorine for the pools where soldier's kids take swimming lessons, or even buying enough feed for the horses that help carry soldier's caskets to their graves.

A diversion of dollars to help fight the war in Iraq has helped create a $530 million shortfall for Army posts at home and abroad, leaving some unable to pay utility bills or even cut the grass.

In San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston hasn't been able to pay its $1.4 million monthly utility bill since March, prompting workers in many of the post's administrative buildings to get automated disconnection notices.

Posting for Peace: Part Two

WOW!! I cannot believe the response to Glenda's Idea. The support she got, was amazing. Glenda also got The Peace Train movement going. This is one hell of a woman to be able to get this together is such short time. So I WILL NOT stop my POST FOR PEACE as of yet. Hop on board The Peace Train and help make a change in our country.

A Chinese proverb says that time changes nothing; people do. When we apply that proverb to the problem of peace, it is sometimes difficult to know just what is effective in trying to create and sustain it. In this country, people who actively work for peace, Cindy Sheehan, Michael Moore, the Crawford Peace House and many, many others, are often reviled and ridiculed for disagreeing with the war in Iraq. On this 4th of July, I’d like to propose that peace is patriotic. Peace makes us all stronger!

So what is peace? Peace is a puzzle that requires work. Peace is more than the absence of conflict. And peace making is more than stopping war. It includes embracing democratic ideals and protecting human rights.

To create peace, we must work for peace, law, order and justice as opposed to war, chaos and revenge. Violence creates more violence. Peace work includes insuring the continuation and strength of the Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution and fighting those who would water down or eliminate our basic rights.

To sustain peace, we need international treaties such as the Geneva Conventions, and we need to follow them without picking and choosing which parts suit our political agenda. We need to actively listen to and cooperate with other institutions that promote peace, such as the United Nations, instead of acting like the U.N is our lapdog. Assassinations, torture, wiretapping, and preemptive war are all counter to peace.

In 2003, just prior to the outbreak of our invasion of Iraq, asked their (mostly European) readers: "Who really poses the greatest danger to world peace? Iraq, North Korea or the United States."

The publishers recorded nearly 700,000 responses. And the tally was: (6.7%) North Korea, (6.3%) Iraq and (86.9%) The U.S.

Why did the Europeans fear that we were the biggest threat to peace? The Iraqi war has confirmed their worst fears about us. Numerous factors, such as justice, power, national interest, ethnic rivalry, hunger, the environment, values, human nature, and economics, have an impact on world peace.

Oh Yea, all aboard! The Peace Train is gonna rock.

July 4th: Posting for Peace

Happy 4th of July America. Now bring our troops home from this insane war in Iraq! While our youths are sent to the killing fields of Iraq, those chicken hawks that are responsible for it, have their own kids safe at home. Demand that they send their loved ones there too, till ours are safe at home.

There is no excuse that they can give, that will ever make this right. The only thing George W. Bush as ever been good at, is FAILURE!! Stay the course in not an option, it is a cop out. A war based on lies can never continue without dissent. A wrecked and raped Constitution shall not go unpunished forever.

This is not my idea of a democracy.

How long shall we suffer the vampires that have highjacked our country, before some justice is seen finally? Yet they are still in power, sucking the life out of us.

Bring them home now! It is time to salvage what little respect our country has left in the world. Bush is a failure, and everyone under him could care less about human life. Stop this insanity now, and give peace and common sense a chance.

July 4th. Let's Post for Peace!! Join in!!

I went to check up on cali, since I have not seen any post there as of late. Well there was one up, and It blew me away. Cali gives the 411 on Glenda in the land of OZ. Glenda has an idea for us bloggers, to do something really special for the 4th.

July 4th. Let's Post for Peace!! Join in!!

I have been thinking about the coming 4th of July holiday and what an opportunity it is for expressing our pariotism by supporting peace.
I want to give you all a heads up on this early, in case you want to join in on a cooperative project I want to do with all of you.

I would like to invite all of you who support ending the war to join with me (and others that I hope to arm wrestle) to join in a project I call Posting for Peace.

Just put Posting for Peace in your headline banner on the 4th of July and write something about why you are against the war, or post a drawing, or a photo. Whatever peace means to you. Be creative!

Please let me know if you are interested in this and I'll add your link to my post.

Blanco Loses her Mind: Divorce Waits Extended

I don't know what to say about my Governor these days. I guess we are a lot better off than what California has to put up with. But for Gods sake, I really think Blanco has lost her freaking mind! First let me say that if you have a marriage that has gone bad, and you come to find out that your spouse is the George Bush or Ann Coulter of marriages, you want out ASAP! But Blanco has seen fit to extend the time for divorces to a year for married couples with children under 18. I'm sure divorce lawyers are happy about it, and will make the most of the extra 6 months, while you get billed for it.

Blanco agrees to extend wait for divorces

Married couples with children under 18 soon will have to wait a year before they can get a divorce — rather than six months — after Gov. Kathleen Blanco signed legislation doubling the wait time for couples with minor children.

The bill by Rep. Ernie Alexander, R-Lafayette, extends the current six month waiting period unless there are allegations of adultery, physical abuse or sexual abuse. Childless couples and couples with children 18 and older can get divorced after a 180-day waiting period.

And speaking of lawyers:

Supporters of Alexander's law, which will take effect Jan. 1, said the longer waiting period is designed to give couples more time to reconsider their action. But critics said the extra six months will only increase the time that couples bicker and boost the fees paid to divorce lawyers.

I am at a lost for words, on how to react to her as of late. She has me baffled and I really don't know what to think. First the Abortion bill, and now this. Has Blanco lost her mind?

The Katrinacrat backs Stacey Tallitsch

Stacey Tallitsch is the choice of The Katrinacrat for Louisiana District 1 Congressional seat. Stacey is running against the Republican puppet and infomercial, Bobby Jindal. Jindal is nothing more then a power hungry puppet, and is a disgrace not only to our state, but to the nation. To listen to Jindal, is like sitting through the sales pitch of a used car salesman. Stacey stands for something else than himself, and for that, The Katrinacrat hopes people will show your love to him. Give him your support, and let Stacey know that we do care about our state and nation.

Let's Get Post-Katrina Louisiana Back on Track!

I'm Stacey Tallitsch the Democrat running for the Louisiana District 1 Congressional seat.

In the post-Katrina world, we can no longer afford the incompetence and political favoritism that has been the hallmark of the Post-Katrina recovery effort. Now it’s time to take control and get Louisiana and the country back on track; a track to benefit all it's citizens.

Nine months after Katrina ripped through the gulf coast and ripped off the mask of virtue that has been touted for years, little has changed in the region. There are still refrigerators in trees, boats in houses and refugees scattered all over the country. Join me in rebuilding our District, New Orleans and our State.

NOTE: "Please sign our action petition which directs Congress to pass The Voting Rights Act Now! We cannot stand by and see the clock turned back 42 years and endanger our citizens Right to Vote. Tell Your Senators and Congressman today how important this is to you! [Click Here]

We also have four other petitions on site, including one Ending The Disasterous Occupation in Iraq per the Jack Murtha Resolution. [Click Here] Check the others from the petitions link on the left-hand navigation column frontpage.

Please include one of real local importance to this District which is sponsored by Senator Clinton: The Removal of FEMA from The Department of Homeland Security! [Click Here]

In an age of computers, the lack of action by The Department of Homeland Security goes beyond gross negligence on the part of the Federal Government, it is incompetence at it's worst.

In the past (and in 6 months or less):

• The great depression “New Deal” was executed.
• Our Navy after Pearl Harbor during WWII was rebuilt.
• Polio vaccine was distributed to every citizen.
• Medicaid was up and running.
• Post 9/11 Manhattan was running normally.

As late as March 1st, 2006 the people of New Orleans who lost everything in the storm were evicted from the FEMA tents they were forced to live in.

People in hotels (including myself) were summarily thrown out onto the street, and the trailers FEMA promised are, to this day, stuck in the mud and rotting in a field 400 miles away. They represent another whole city that has cost the tax-payers $200 million and are at this moment, worthless and waiting to go to a landfill.

Over $9 billion was set aside by the SBA for disaster loans, of which 1.4 million applied, six months later only $400k has been approved. Hundreds of bodies have yet to be found while they rot in their homes and thousands more have yet to be identified. The cadaver dog teams from around the country that could help find the bodies have been sent home repeatedly. Federal agencies have been fighting amongst themselve about who would pay for the hotel bills and vet care of the dogs. The smallest of costs and houses are being demolished, potentially with bodies still inside.

Did you ever think the day would come when Americans, in America, would be called 'refugees'?

While many believe America is about to loose one of it's premier cities, jobs go begging for lack of rental housing. Homeowners with an honest want and need to rebuild can't because of the FEMA delay in issuing Federal Flood Maps and because of the delay in rebulding money.

Governor Blanco has again called for help in immediately building needed rental housing so the businesses that have already returned can find enough employees.

Help me send a message to the Government that the current local and national leadership is unacceptable. We are going to rebuild New Orleans and Louisiana!

We can do it better than they did. Ask any Katrina refugree and they will agree that it's 'Change or more of the same!'

It's time for Louisiana and New Orleans to rebuild and stand for a New Prosperity with the help of the good-hearted American people and the American Government.

Join us in our journey of Reconstruction and Rebirth. We welcome your help and ideas!

The Katrinacrat backs John Laesch

I like what I see in John Laesch, and I ask everyone to support him in his bid to out Dennis Hastert. This is what The Katrinacrat is all about, supporting those Democrats that are up againt the GOP, and need our help. I find John to be a refreshing change and I hope you will visit his websight and let him know you are there for him.

John Laesch on the Issues:

As your Congressman, John will work toward:

* A health care system that ensures every American has access to affordable healthcare without overburdening government resources.
* An economy that puts the needs of Main Street before the desires of Wall Street while defending the American Dream for future generations.
* An education system that expands upon the dedication of family, promotes responsibility, and rewards achievement while opening the door to infinite possibilities.
* A national energy policy that focuses on reducing foreign energy dependence and national consumption, promotes alternative energy sources and strives for sustainability.
* A foreign policy that includes a Success Strategy for Iraq in the short-term and respects other nations; safeguards our security, the environment and workers rights in the long-term.
* A political system that works to ensure the integrity of our electoral system, increases voter turnout and reduces the influence of special interest groups.

So give John your support, and help him kick Hastert to the curb. It is past time that Denny gets put into the unemployment line.

Matt Update: A Marine waiting on a Flight

I got my birthday wish!! WOOHOO!!! Matt is coming home on the 6th. No more waiting for chow for that Marine, he is out of there. Headed back home where he needs to be. A few days ago, I joked with Orange Gearle when she wished he could be home for the 4th. I said that it would be so great. But then I said that I would settle for the 6th, as a birthday wish for me. Well it looks like I got my wish granted, and Matt is supposed to be headed home Thursday. Orange Gearle gives an update on her blog.

A Marine 'waiting around for chow': the Final Chapter

So now the final chapter: A Marine Coming Home?

A brief overview for those that have missed the story: Matt was injured last August in Afghanistan. Shot twice in the leg. He was ordered back to Hawaii on November 11 (yes, Veteran's Day) still in a wheelchair. Since he's been there, he has gotten very little medical attention and when able, was even forced to purchase his own bicycle to get him to and from therapy. He hasn't been getting his mail, and has been fairly isolated. On a positive note, since my first diary, he purchased a laptop and has been able to communicate via email and instant messaging. He calls our house, drunk, and tells us about the horrors of war. PTSD is most certainly present. They have him doing absolutely nothing. All he does is `wait around for chow'. No one disputes the fact that he needs a medical discharge, it just isn't happening. My most recent call for help was asking people to write their congress critters. The current hold up has been waiting for a paper to get signed, releasing him of liability regarding his missing gear, so that he can finally come home. Kossacks and non-Kossacks alike responded in droves.

This evening (afternoon for him) I saw Matt get online. I instant messaged him and asked if he'd gotten his plane tickets. Honestly, it was a question asked in jest. Matt and I frequently begin our conversations in that manner. It keeps the mood light, despite all the chaos. His response was simply "Thursday". Excited, I thought he meant that he would be receiving his tickets, or at least know more on Thursday. But as our conversation progressed I realized that he will be coming home on Thursday, July 6, 2006.

It worked, my friends. We got him home.

Thanks so much to all that have kept up with this story, and mailed those in Congress. This is just one case like this, and I do not wish to stop here. I will continue to fight for all that are "waiting for chow" and those in Iraq. Time to bring them home.
